#6 - New York Jets 4-12                                               Needs WR, NT, OLB, ILB, G
AFATT Mock Draft - First Round
2008 NFL Draft Picks 1-8
Glenn Dorsey is number one on their draft board so when he falls to them at three,
you take him.  They need a QB, but Matt Ryan will wilt under the pressure of
following behind Michael Vick and their are too many QB's close to Ryan that can
be had with their second round picks.
Jake Long
#2- St. Louis Rams 3-13                                        Needs DE, G/OT, CB, OLB, WR
DE, Virgina, 6'3",272, 4.75
Chris Long is the best player in this draft.  If the Rams feel that Orlando Pace is
done or the injury is worse than expected, it would also be a good move to take
Jake Long if available.  They need help on defense so if not one of the Long's, they
will take either Ellis or Dorsey depending on how their draft board pans out.
Chris Long
#4 - Oakland Raiders 4-12                                           Needs OL, DT, WR, DE, RB
Ellis and Dorsey are 1 and 1A as DT's.  Many people are predicting McFadden to
go here and with Al Davis' love of speed this is possible, but it would be a mistake
to pick him this early.  The Raiders lost Warren Sapp and need the production.
Ellis is safer and he will provide years of production.
#5 - Kansas City Chiefs 4-12                                         Needs OT, DE, C, WR, CB
DT, LSU, 6'1", 310, 5.05
They would love it if Jake Long fell to them as they need OL help.  They also need
a QB, but as the Cardinals did last year, they will reach for an OT that they can plug
into the gaping holes in their OL.  Clady is highly regarded, maybe not top five
regarded, but he has tremendous upside.
Glenn Dorsey
The Jets need help on defense and could also go for a WR but this is too high for
this group of receivers.  Expect them to pick defense and he is the best LB
available.  Gholston is the pick for many, but his willingness to take plays off only
gets worse when he becomes an Instant Millionaire.
#7 - New England Patriots 16-0 (from 49ers 5-11)        Needs ILB, CB, OLB, OL
Patriots would like Gholston and need youth at LB, but they like experience with
the complicated schemes of Belichick.  Expect them to try and trade out and get
more picks .  They need help and can get immediate help on special teams and
as a nickel CB from Cromartie, who's family and character make him a safe pick.
#8 - Baltimore Ravens 5-11                                    Needs CB, QB, OLB, LOT, DT
The Ravens know that McNair is too fragile and have already waited long enough
for Boller to develop.  They need a QB and with RYan sliding to them this becomes
a safe pick.  He can compete with Troy Smith while McNair squeezing one more
season out of his tired old body.
#1- Miami Dolphins 1-15                                                Needs OT, DL, QB, ILB, CB
QB, Boston College, 6'4", 221, 4.96
The first pick in the NFL Draft is going to cost you $30 million so you better get it right.  The Dolphins
have a tough pick because Chris Long (the best player in the draft) is really a 4-3 DE, not a 3-4 DE or
OLB.  Glenn Dorsey is not a 3-4 NT, Jake Long may be a better RT than LT, and McFadden pegs the
Bustometer.  Vernon Gholston and Sedrick Ellis are better fits for them, but not rated as high.  The
safest pick in this draft appears to be Jake Long who can anchor a tackle spot for the next ten years.
This pick may very well change before April 26th, but for now...
Matt Ryan
Picks 9-16      Picks 17-24      Picks 25-32
Post Combine April 11, 2008
#3 - Atlanta Falcons 4-12                                                Needs QB, OT, RB, DT, S
OT, Michigan, 6'7", 315, 5.20
Picks 9-16      Picks 17-24      Picks 25-32
DT, USC, 6'1", 305, 5.02
Sedrick Ellis
The AFATT NFL Mock Draft is not like any you will see.  Our goal is not to correctly predict the players and draft positions
as they will be drafted.  Our goal is to correctly predict the best players when we look back three years from now.  There
are busts in every draft.  Our predicted busts will be pushed down the draft board and we believe picking them lower in the
draft will also decrease the chances for a bust because their
IME will be minimized.
CB, Tennessee State, 6'2", 184, 4.33
Dominique Rogers-Cromartie
OT, Boise State, 6'6", 317, 5.25
Ryan Clady
OLB, USC, 6'2", 236, 4.6
