#11 - Buffalo Bills 7-9                                                     Needs WR, CB, TE, LB, DT
AFATT Mock Draft - First Round
2008 NFL Draft Picks 9-16
The Bills need a lot of help and could go many directions here but defense is a top
priority and Derrick Harvey is a solid pick.  They could go CB or WR but the value
is not there for either position and there are TE's with first round grades.  A pass
rush won the Super Bowl for the Giants and this is a copy-cat league.
#10 - New Orleans Saints 7-9                                  Needs CB, MLB, DT, OLB, TE
The Saints must get help for that defense.  They will pick the best defensive player
on the board as they need help in all three areas.  Without a pass rush, they were
victimized repeatedly last year in the passing game so a front seven player is also
a possibility.  McKelvin has shot up draft boards since the Senior Bowl.
#12 - Denver Broncos 7-9                                                Needs OT, DT, S, MLB, G
Lots of OL issues recently and they have not picked this high in awhile.  Williams'
pass blocking skills are solid, the question is whether he is fast enough for that
zone blocking scheme.  Another choice here might be DL since their defense has
failed consistently over the years, but so have their picks on defense.
#13 - Carolina Panthers 7-9                                      Needs QB, DE, OT, WR, OLB
This is a tough one because they have a lot of needs and this may be too early for
a RB.  Stewart is the best back in this draft and DeAngelo Williams is not the long
term answer.  Stewart's toe will be healed by training camp and he will take
Williams' job by October and hold it for the next five years.
#14 - Chicago Bears 7-9                                                Needs QB, LOT, DT, G, RB
They re-signed Grossman to a one year deal, but still need a QB and Brohm is the
guy, or at least AFATT thinks so.  He has slipped on many boards, but four years
of college production and multiple state championships in high school overrule all
else.  Jeff Otah or Williams could also go here as they need OL help.
#15 - Detroit Lions 7-9                                                        Needs OT, G, CB, S, DE
OT, Vanderbilt, 6'6", 315, 5.17
The Lions need help on defense.  The line is solid though they have underachieved
and been injured, a pass rusher or secondary help is needed.  They also need OL
help, but the Lions can't resist Mendenhall with Tatum Bell the only experienced RB
on their roster.  He has a fairly high bust potential and should go in Round two.
Chris Williams
#16 - Arizona Cardinals 8-8                                       Needs CB, OLB, TE, RB, DE
The Cardinals should be thinking defense and Cason is a local guy that they are
very familiar with.  OL is always a possibility and they could use help pretty much
everywhere on defense.  The RB position may be a better fit, but there is no sense
upsetting Edgerrin James when you can get one later.
#9 - Cincinnati Bengals 7-9                                            Needs DT, LB, OT, DE, TE
Gholston will help immediately on special teams and comes from OSU so he
should be able to step in quickly.  Marvin Lewis needs to improve that defense or
this will be his last year in Cincinnati. The scary part of this selection is the Bengals
history of busts and the concerns about him taking plays off in college.
